For many years owners of Honda inverter/generators have possessed a means of extending their run times by connecting to an external fuel tank, but owners of Powerhorse, Predator, Ford, Pulsar, SUA, Genkins and WEN generators have been told that our machines are incompatible with external fuel tanks because our generators have no fuel pump to lift the fuel out of the external tank and draw it into the generator. The ingenious MERGS system solves the problem with an elegantly simple fool-proof design that employs robust military & marine grade components, all ready to use right of the box.

If your generator is NOT a Powerhorse 2000, Predator 2000, SUA 2300i, Pulsar G2319N, WEN 56200i or 56225i, Genkins GK2300i or Ford FG2300iS, here is an easy way to determine if your generator is MERGS compatible.

Military grade 5.3 gallon external fuel tank

The Canadian military replaced their old metal jerry cans with these high quality HDPE containers, which are fully compliant with the Portable Fuel Container Safety Act of 2020.

High quality brass & stainless steel tethered vent cap

The entire system is vented through this vent cap, which should remain open whenever the tank is connected to the generator, especially if the generator is running.

marine grade non-spray fuel connectors

The marine-grade non-spray fuel connector mounted at the bottom front of the tank is only open when the two halves of the connector are fully connected--so it's only open when the fuel line is fully connected to the tank.

Four feet of high grade fuel line + yellow pour spout

The high grade fuel line is impervious to gasoline & ethanol. The fuel line can easily be shortened if desired. Kit includes a yellow pour spout which can be used to empty the MERGS tank into another fuel tank, so no need to run the MERGS tank dry for storage.

patented MERGS fuel cap has unique hollow center tube

The hollow tube inside the cap allows fuel to flow into the generator's internal tank and provides a vent path from the internal tank to the external tank's vent. It also secures the "gasket disk" in place for a perfect seal around the generator's filler neck everytime.

Over 50 hours of run time @ 25% generator load

Generator manufacturers advertise a burn rate of approximately 1 pint per hour when the generator is under a constant 25% load. The generator's internal tank & the MERGS tank provide over 50 pints of fuel--thus over 50 hours of run time under those conditions.
